Information on the Orthodox Church

A section on our website that seeks to explain the Orthodox Faith to those who want to learn more about the Church that Christ founded.

This is a new section - please be patient, we are uploading content as it is written!

The Orthodox Christian Church is:
evangelical, but not Protestant;
orthodox, but not Jewish;
catholic, but not Roman;
it isn’t non-denominational, it is pre
-denominational.
It has believed, taught, preserved, defended and died for the Faith of the Apostles since the Day of Pentecost 2000 years ago.

(from Our Life in Christ)

What is Orthodox Christianity - “We have been asked many times - what is Orthodox Christianity?  There are some very important differences between Orthodoxy and other Christian groups and denominations.  It’s not to do with rites or ritualism, and it’s not to do with irrelevant or obscure theologising: Orthodoxy is fundamentally about the union of the faithful with God through the Church that He created.” (topics include humanity, it’s relationship with and return to God, doctrine and worship).

Holy Tradition in the Orthodox Church: One of the most important parts of Orthodox theology is adherence to what is known as ‘Holy Tradition’, expressed through changelessness - even timelessness - and a sense of living continuity with the ancient Church (2 Thess 2:15)… (topics include the scope and levels of Tradition, Scripture in Tradition, the difference between Tradition and traditions, and how Tradition exhibits our faith that the Holy Spirit is in His Church).
