In late 2008, a small group of Orthodox Christians founded Anesti. Seeing a need for the witness to the fullness of Orthodox Christianity in the Southeast Queensland area, this small group decided that they would be the beginnings of this.

At it’s core, Anesti exists to educate: to educate people about Orthodox theology and practise; further, Anesti seeks to welcome people into local parishes of the Orthodox Church.

Anesti was able to do this successfully through maintaining a manned stall at Easterfest 2009, producing brochures and t-shirts, and providing a bookstore for Orthodox parishes. These activities have since been channelled into parish-based ministries.

At present, Anesti’s main focus is to provide an Australian-centric website about Orthodoxy and Orthodox issues, including a geographically-sorted parish directory for all states and territories of Australia.
